7 Reasons I’m A Mean Mom (But Not A Bad One)

More than once, my 4 year old has screamed as he heads to time out that I have ruined his fun or his day or his life. I've gotta admit, it stings just a little, but when I started to reflect, I realized he's at least partially right. Sometimes I do ruin his fun. And that probably does ruin his day. But I feel pretty confident that none of the mean things I'm doing are gonna ruin his life. So I'm coming to terms with my meanness and telling myself it's okay.

We've survived winter and second winter, the birds are singing and all of the snow has melted [...]

Are You Ready to Have Kids? Take This Handy Quiz to Find Out!

More than once, I have found myself shaking my head as I ask myself, Is this what I signed up for? And then I realize that, as a parent, whether I knew it or not at the time, this is exactly what I signed up for.

A Tale of Two C-Sections

A Tale of Two C-Sections

In preparation for my second C-Section, I scoured the Internet for encouragement and advice on how to head into the operation with confidence. I soon found that a lot of the information out there is filled with doom and gloom, and was feeling even less excited about heading into the procedure than I had been [...]

An 8-Step Guide For Attending a Wedding With Your Toddler

There is a window of time in all of our lives when receiving a wedding invitation in the mail is a cause for excitement and joy. Someone who you know cares enough about you  enough to invite you to bear witness to one of the most important days of their lives, and if you're lucky, you'll also be surrounded by many of your friends and/or family while eating, drinking, dancing, and partaking in similar activities of celebration and general merriment at the event.

How to Make a Social Media-Worthy Journey Through Your First Year of Parenthood in 8 Easy Steps

Finding out you're pregnant is a terrifying emotional and wonderful experience. Although there are few things as nerve-wracking as trying to shoot pee onto a tiny stick held in your shaking hands in the shadows of a dimly lit bathroom on Christmas morning (that was my experience, anyway) this is actually one of the easiest steps of the journey [...]

How Pinterest Has Made Me a Better Person (Spoiler Alert: It Hasn’t, But Here Are Some of My Favourite Food Pins Ever)

Guys, I love Pinterest. I know that there are so many articles and blog posts out there about how we don't need to live up to the impossible Pinterest Standard of Motherhood/Womanhood/Personhood and I totally agree with them. There is something to be said about the benefit of living in a time where we were naive [...]

The Ten Commandments of Adulthood

The Ten Commandments of Adulthood

Last week, I turned 29 years old. I am starting to realize that I no longer really fit into the category of "Young Adult" and have officially graduated into the territory of "Regular Adult", which is sometimes just referred to as "Adult". This is kind of terrifying to me, because I have recently learned that, [...]
